5 Tips To Keep Your Paint Job Looking Fresh Year Round

So you just got a new car and it looks fabulous! Rides good, looks good, even smells good, right? But how do you keep it this way? At Like New Automotive, we know you’re a busy person so we put together a few tips to help you keep your paint job looking fresh year round.

1) Get It Washed

Sounds simple, right? Many car owners don’t realize how simply washing your car at least once a week can help maintain your paint job. Think of your car as your body and its paint like your skin. Washing your car often helps remove debris and chemicals that get picked up while the car has been driven. Over time elements such as rain, wind and dirt can dull the shine of your car. Make sure you use a product specifically made to wash your car and not dish soap or washing powder!

2) Get It Waxed

You’re probably thinking, “Why should I wax my car? Isn’t washing good enough?” Washing is a great way to start keeping your car looking like new, but waxing takes it even further. Wax helps protect the paint from the sun and water much longer. It also gives your car an extra shine. When you get it washed, make sure to follow up with a coat or two of wax.

3) Get It Protected

Want to take protecting your car’s paint finish to the next level? Some companies offer a paint protection film that can extend the life of your paint. This is something you would probably want to have done professionally, but if you’re serious about keeping your car’s appearance looking showroom fresh, it’s worth the investment.

4) Get It Detailed

People usually consider a full-service detail job on their car only when there’s some special occasion or a problem. Having your car detailed is like giving it a spa treatment. At minimum, you should schedule an appointment to have this done at least once or twice per year. If you live in a climate where there’s heavy rain, extreme heat or cold conditions, then you should have your car detailed more often.

5) Get It Covered

If you have a garage or a carport, by all means use it. That’s what it’s for! A lot of people like to use this precious space for storage and that’s okay, but the garage’s primary function is to keep your car out of the elements when it’s not in use. Imagine you’re headed out of town for a trip and you leave your car in the driveway because you didn’t pay attention to the weather. The forecast predicted heavy rain for the next few days and simply using your garage would have prevented your car from being out in the rain for days at a time.

Any one of these tips is great by itself but used all together can help keep your car’s paint like you just drove it off the dealership lot. If you have any questions please feel free to give Like New Automotive a call or an email and we’ll help you get pointed in the right direction.
